Interventions for Transforming APMC Mandis in India and Making an Inclusive World

The article proposes an inclusive approach to acknowledge and give judicious credit to the farmers, the primary stakeholders of the food chain. It also talks about how the APMC Mandis can transform and why it would be a better option to minimize rather than bridge the rural- urban gap. A small approach of intervention is scratched upon to assure that it is an implementable idea.

Charuta Puranik
Professional Counselling
Charuta has been working as a Professional Counselling Psychologist since 4 years providing individual counselling and conducting seminars and webinars with various schools, social organizations and community groups. I am Charuta. I am a Counselling Psychologist. While my office is based in the city, I am based in my travels and engagements for exploration and seeking solutions. The best part about my field is interacting with people- to know them better and to learn with them about human mind and life. It is interesting to know how the mind functions and ways in which we are similar to people despite of difference in experiences and ways in which similar experiences shape us differently owing to our mental processes.I have a record of associating with more number of organizations than my number of work years. I have a good rapport and relations with my associates, mates and peers, and warm relations with beautiful hearts around the country, who welcome me with open arms. I am basically a person whose feet are at their best when outside than in office and mind at its best when meeting people and working on new ideas.People say I have wheels under my feet, which, as far as I observe, are slowing down to look around, these day. I was born in Ratnagiri. I have completed my basic education with my years distributed in different cities in Maharashtra and West Bengal. A geographically diverse living and educational exposure, however, isn’t worth discussing void of the experience and learning life holds for you. What influences you, and helps you grow more is encounter with yourself- the visits you pay to yourself and the truth you learn about yourself. And slowing down is needed for that. In a life when you have learned about competition and doing, what one comes to appreciate over time, is learning about staying and being. It helps you gather yourself up and be authentically you.Psychology has obviously not been my earliest choice of interest. Dance has been an art I was primarily exposed to and developed a relation with. It has been a companion of my life. It was there with me during tough times. It has been there in my days of joy. Dance has been a true reflection of my mind. So much so, that the days when I felt lost, I lost my dance too. It has been my mode of venting out, letting out my feelings and expressing myself to myself. It was there when I was alone. And it is there even today when I have people around me willing to provide company. I’ll have to explore my new relation with it, though. But that should be alright. What brings content to my heart is that I didn’t lose it forever. It has been there as a mode of communication to me when I grew up not expressing myself much using the regular modes of communication and now as I evolve, my relation with it will evolve too, as it is meant to be.As a part of my college curriculum, I chose to pursue a degree in Psychology, and have been a student since. Now, I conduct sessions, seminars and webinars with different organizations, basically people, related to psychology and mental health. What I get out of it is an opportunity to better understand people and share whatever health and wisdom I have received and earned for myself. Providing counselling and training to people and engaging with different social organizations, I have been able to believe in change. I believe that change can occur, but more important is working towards achieving it. I strongly believe that youth can lead the change, an understanding of one’s psyche will be the guide and art can be a strong form of expression and influence.

MITRA SAHAYOGI INITIATIVE
When asked to write intro for the blog. I stated wondering what should I write? Who Am I?Briefly, my engagement with the youth community began in early 1980's. Facilitating the process of youth empowerment with a strong interest in development issues, my quest continues for making the paradigm shift towards true youth education practices. Many programs have a non-conventional approach and innovatively designed to nurture values in the younger generation who envision alternatives in socio-cultural and economic sectors. This has offered wide scope for research in youth work and bringing synergy into thinking, dialogue and practice and in the various aspects of youth life and facets of youth empowerment to generate new narratives of hope.About this process: 'We the Yuva' -the site- is the beginning of a new journey with a participatory approach to the owning process. I have a habit of using the term 'We' in all my work. People get confused when I use the specific word 'We'. All my processes begin with 'We', like our constitution, which also begins with the most powerful line, that is,' We, the people'. It represents power of collectives. As I have been part of many processes, in all initiatives it remains my core value. I believe in togetherness; and how we gather are the powerful ways by which we can make difference. Having worked with diverse youth communities and associations, I think this site -We the Yuva- is an effort at giving back what I have received. It's an expression of gratitude. Through it, we want to enhance youth participation in all spheres of life. In fact, it's our foremost goal. As Decision making and participation always empowers, we want youth themselves to make informed choices of life, be it in the sphere of education, health, work or family.Youth has to be a decision maker. For this very reason, we want the youth to make decisions based on informed choices, for example, like - what to learn, where to learn, and with whom to learn. The site will be providing information about what is happening and available around. The youth should make the choice, as also, should shoulder the responsibility of making that choice, so that, he or she does not complain 'I was not aware of it' (mujhe pata nahin tha). This site belongs to all those who believe in the power of togetherness and is an invitation to all of you who believe in power of youth, to join hands. We will be happy to work together with youth and also with those who want to extend their support for this cause. For 'We The Youth' I promise to remain just 'Mitra Sahayogi'

Why we need to promote minimalism and simplicity amongst young people?

Promoting minimalism and simplicity among young people is crucial in addressing the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation. The excessive acquisition of unnecessary items strains our limited resources and accelerates environmental harm. Embracing minimalism can help reduce this impact by encouraging mindful consumption and sustainable living. Additionally, minimalism fosters mental well-being by reducing stress and anxiety associated with consumerism and the constant pursuit of material possessions. It also enhances social interactions by promoting authenticity and empathy, leading to deeper connections. By adopting a minimalist lifestyle, young people can contribute to a healthier planet and a more fulfilling life.

Walking Together For Peace -A nonviolent March to Wake up -Take Up Nuclear Disarmament And Reduce Military Spending

Walking Together for Peace was a historic event. It was a 200-kilometer, two-week walk by a core group of 25 people led by local Mi’ kmaq women water walkers –known as the Grassroots Grandmothers Marian Nicholas and Amy Maloney. The walk traversed from Pugwash southward through Truro to Halifax on secondary roads, ironically, through a province that has many veterans and a distinct naval presence. The open vistas of the roadways gave the walkers a sense of the immense possibilities in Canada of making a reset in policies towards creating a more peaceful world. One of the ways the peace walkers suggested throughout, was to sign the UN Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).

In search for our Inner Peace: A Youth Perspective

You can observe how little space you have inwardly; we are overcrowded with noise, chattering, endless memories, images, symbols, opinions, knowledge, crammed full of secondhand things. There is no space there at all; therefore there is no freedom. And without this space, in which there is no boundary, the mind is incapable of finding out, of coming upon that immeasurable reality.

This article really opened my eyes to the different ways we handle our emotions. The comparison between a garbage collector and a kabadi-wala is so insightful. It made me realize how important it is to recycle our anger and frustrations, rather than just dumping them on others. The personal anecdotes and reflections add a lot of depth to the message. Kudos to the author for such a thought-provoking piece! It has truly changed my way of thinking for few day to day things.

As a regular follower of your platform, I've noticed that your articles usually offer valuable lessons for the younger generation and those young at heart like me. However, this particular article feels more suited for a news website rather than your platform. While it's informative about what has been done and by whom, it lacks the motivational aspect until it shows the impact and changes in policy. I have just read two more articles on your platform, and their transformative thinking is amazing.

Wow, I had no idea how much technology is transforming agriculture until now! It will be amazing to read how IoT and AI are making farming more efficient and sustainable in your future articles. However, it's equally important to consider the farmers' perspectives. Without understanding their needs, building advanced solutions might be futile. I believe two different articles are needed to complete this series: one focusing on the farmers' views and the other on the developers' insights. The image is perfectly suitable for the article, showing a young person happy to document their good work, while the farmer looks confused, perhaps feeling that the young person doesn't fully understand what they're talking about.
